Our Mission
~ Our mission at Grace and Grit Yoga is to provide group and 1:1 specialist yoga therapy, classes and workshops. Our aim is to reach everyone that would otherwise not be able to access yoga as a therapeutic health intervention. ~
Therapeutic Yoga
Yoga therapy can be used as an intervention to help someone manage their mental and physical well-being. Yoga is the science of consciousness and well-being, as such, a full understanding of the self is sought and whole health is understood within the context of ancient Indian philosophy. Tailored yoga practices are taught that cultivate focus and concentration by anchoring the practitioner into their body with their breath and awareness. With practice greater clarity, in movement, thought and emotion, begins to arise. This offers the practitioner an opportunity to build the skills to become self-aware and to therefore self-manage.
Yoga therapy utilises the ancient yogic tools of bodywork, breath work, meditation and lifestyle guidance based upon yogic understanding. A body of research is emerging that supports yoga as an, evidence based, beneficial and therapeutic mind-body health intervention that:
· Strengthens the body
· Supports emotional dysregulation
· Builds inner resilience
· Cultivate feelings of inner safety and stability
· Develops the understanding of personal boundaries as we practice with choice.
· Learn how to calm the mind
· Experience deep relaxation.
· Enhance their concentration.
· Cultivate self-acceptance.
· Cultivate a greater understanding of their self and emotions.
Because yoga is such an holistic and beneficial health and well-being practice, we feel at Grace and Grit yoga that many more should be able to access yoga. This should include schools, hospitals, care-homes, residential homes, out-reach centres, children’s centres etc. Currently limited resources restrict this being a widespread possibility. At Grace and Grit yoga we are making the steps to change this paradigm.
Take Action
To help our mission, we aim to partner and exchange with charities and businesses in offering therapeutic yoga classes and workshops to people, that would benefit from accessible yoga. This is in alignment with the ancient tradition of yoga. If this would be of interest to you, in terms of organising a group, event or workshop for your space, then please get in touch via the contact details below.
